His many friends throughout the Wath district will be interested to learn that Captain R. C. Thomson, the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Thomson, of “Woodside,” Wath, is to be posted to the 1st Battalion of the York and Lanes Regiment, who are stationed at York, when his long leave expires at the end of April.

Capt. Thomson, who was promoted from Lieutenant last August has held a commission with the York and Lancs for ten year and has served at Dynapore, Delhi, Kamptee, and Ahmednagar. For the last three years he acted as adjutant in the 2nd Battalion, which has now been stationed at Khartoum.

Capt. Thomson, who went to Rossall School, was for some time under his father as an engineer at Manvers Main Colliery and held a Territorial commission in the York and Lanes Regiment .

He took a prominent part in the social life at that time.
