Prize Fight at Wath
On Friday evening last a fight for a small sum took place at Wath-upon-Dearne, between two well-known celebrities, known as “Rusty Face” and “Clogger Bill.”
In the first round “Rusty Face” led off with a heavy blow on the neck, and received a rather severe one on the nose in return, which caused it to swell. After this very little was done daring the round.
On time being called ” Rusty Fair” came up smiling, and again led off, giving “Clogger several nasty hits about the face, during which time “Clogger” was not idle, he putting is some well-judged hits, which had great effect.
At length “Clogger” gave his opponent a heavy blow on the mouth, which completely knocked “Rusty Face” off his feet.
At the commencement of the third round “Clogger ‘ forced the fighting fairly breaking through the guard of “Rusty” and thrashing him all round the ring. A rattler in the mouth knocked “Rusty” down “Rusty’s” second, finding his man completely done, threw up the sponge.
The referee decided in favour of “Clogger Bill.”
