Rotherham 151 for 8  Wath  150

At Clifton Lane on Saturday, Rotherham defeated Wath by two wickets. Wath scored 150 (S. Ellis 26, K. Phillips 26), C. Rodgers taking 5 for 62 for Rotherham.

K. Nellist, who before the war was a member of Hooton Roberts village team, hit up 52 for Rotherham, for whom G. Root (30), and B. L. Grogut (21), also did well.

Mexborough Captain’s Fine Innings

Denaby & Cadeby  61  Mexborough  60 for 3

Mexborough, who have only lost one of their six games, won the Whit-Monday “Derby” game with Denaby at Mexborough by seven wickets. Denaby were al out for 61 (L. Robinson 17, C. Heaton 17). In knocking off the runs Mexborough lost three wickets.

Wilkinson, the Mexborough captain, played a grand innings of 40 not out, and scored the winning hit with a grand six to take the score to 62 for three.  For Denaby, G. Porter took 3 wickets for 16 runs and J. Mullen (5 for 29). S. Padley (2 for 17) and G. Howarth (2 for 7), bowled well for Mexborough.
