On The Ocean Wave
This page of news and pictures about South Yorkshire men serving in H.M. Forces (as well as all the other pages in this paper) is regularly read by South Yorkshire men all over the world, and apparently also keeps those afloat in touch with land.
We have received a letter from Able Seaman Jim Hibbert, who is doing patrol work in a destroyer who says he gets the “Times” every week, though it takes a week or so to reach him. A West Melton man, he says he is “in the pink,” and enjoys life in the Navy in which he has been serving now for 19 months.
Formerly he was employed at Wath Main Colliery.
He finds patrol work exciting to say the least of it. Here’s wishing him the best of luck in 1940, from the Editor and all A.B. Hibbert’s pals in the Wath district.
