Sailor – Robertshaw George – HMS Superb

March 1918

Mexborough and Swinton Times February 16, 1918

In the “Dim and Distant Spaces”

This is a photograph of a group of the crew of H.M.S. Superb. it is sent by Pte. George Robertshaw, Midland terrace, Wath-upon-Dearne, a marine serving, in this vessel (he is on the left, immediately above the dusky gentleman with the cigarette), and we are informed that it includes other local men.       The figure proudly exhibited on the shovel probably refers to the amount of fuel stoked on Christmas Day.
