Missing—Now Safe.

News has come to hand that Chief Petty Officer G. E. Scutt (25), son of Mr. Geo. Scutt, of 45, Winterwell Road, West Melton, who was reported missing following the sinking of the cruiser Gloucester, in the Battle of Crete is now safe.

Petty Officer Scutt has been in the Navy nine years and took part in the Battle of Matapan. He also served in H.M.S. Capetown, the ship which brought the Emperor of Abyssinia to England after the Abyssinian war with the Italians.

P.O. Scutt’s father received a telegram from the Admiralty last Thursday saying he was missing, but on Monday he received another from his son, which stated: “Safe. Waiting to continue fight.”
