Celebrating her 21st birthday today (Friday) is Sergeant Mary Redfern of Wath who has jest returned after two and a half years’ service in Germany with the W.R.A.C.

Sergeant Redfern, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T Redfern, of 250 Cemetery Road, Wath, attended Oark road School and Mexborough Technical College, where she followed a secretarial course.

She worked for a time at G.E.C. at Swinton and joined the W.R.A.C. when she was 17.

She was in England for a year before going out to Germany, where she has been made Personal Assistant to the Commanding Officer., and during that time she was ione of two chosen to depict the klife of an English W.R.A.C. in Germany.

She is to attend a college course before her next posting.
