Soldier – Bradley, Albert – Killed in Action

April 1918

Mexborough and Swinton Times April 20, 1918

Albert Bradley, A.B.
Hood Battalion, Royal Naval Division

Albert Bradley of Sandymount, Wath-upon-Dearne, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bradley. late of Sandymount Road Wath ner Rotherham, was killed in action on March 12.

In a letter from the officer commanding Bradley’s company, announcing his death, the former says:—

“May I offer my sincere sympathy to you during your hour of trial. Your son was one of the most beloved in the .company. It was a real loss to us all when he gave his life for the cause of King and country. His platoon officer speaks very highly of him, and his comrades miss him sorely.

He was killed on March 12 whilst doing his duty. Could a soldier have a higher honour? I am sure that he could not. May I ask you to take heart, and do your best to cheer up, remembering that ‘Time is the healer of all wounds.’

On behalf of the C.O., the battalion, and particularly  this company, I offer you sincere sympathy.”
