Lieutenant T. Briggs

of Wath upon Dearne, was at the outbreak of war a drum major in the 2nd York and Lancaster.

Subsequently he was promoted sergeant major and awarded the D.C.M. for distinguished conduct in the field.

Later he received a commission.
