Killed In Action

Mrs. Alvey Causier of 1, Chapel Avenue, Brampton, has been informed that her husband, Pte. Jack Causier, son of Mr. Causier of Wombwell and the late Mrs. Causier, was killed in action in Italy on January 19th.

Pte. Causier attended Barnsley Grammar School on a scholarship won at John Street Council School, Wombwell, and was employed on the surface at Mitchell Main Colliery.

He joined up in February 1940 and was drafted to the Middle East in 1941. He saw service in Iraq and India but was first in action in Sicily, where he had taken part in the landings. From Sicily he went to Italy.   His last letter was cheerful, but he said he had not had a very good Christmas as it was spent on the front line.

There are no children.
