Private P. Francis Duffy (6th Connaught Rangers)
We are pleased to record that the D.C.M. has again been gained by a local soldier in the district, viz., Private P Francis Duffy of Sandymount, Wath on Dearne, who has been “somewhere in France” only as recently as December last.
The official intimation conveying the news reads:
Act of Gallantry
The Divisional Commander is glad to bring to the notice of the Division the extremely gallant conduct of Lance Corporal A. Donagh and Private P Duffy, of the 6th Connaught Rangers, who, on the 3rd inst., under a very severe bombardment, volunteered for, and carried out, a dangerous duty in communicating with an advanced company.
