Private Theophilus Evans

Private Evans, 7 Mount Pleasant Rd, Wath on Dearne, a son of Mrs Fred Evans, widow, of Park Rd, Wath on Dearne, was killed in action in October 9.
He was 27 years of age, a married man, and had three children.
His widow has received a message of sympathy from a comrades of her husband’s at the Front who was with him when he met his death.
He states that Private Evans was killed by a machine-gun while attempting to save the lives of others.
Private Evans enlisted in January 1915, and went to France in March 1916.
While at the Front he was twice in hospital with gas poisoning and once with shellshock.
He was on Monday from the Front last July.
Before enlistment he was a miner at the Cortonwood Colliery.
