June 1918

Signaller Richard Irving Fowler
Leicester Regiment

Signaller Richard Fowler, 48. Cranbrook Road , Doncaster , formerly a shop assistant at Wath, was last week reported wounded and missing.

Since then his parents have received the following note from him:

“Just a line or 2 to say I am a prisoner of war, and badly wounded through the back; nothing to worry about for the future.

I will no doubt be three or four months before I’m well.

I cannot give you an address yet, perhaps in ten days’ time”
