Just Missed Tobruk
One of the two sons of Mr and Mrs S Gill, of 17, Cemetery Road, Wath, was on leave with a Brampton boy to whom he refers as “Len” at the time of the fall of Tobruk, where they were then station. He is Sapper Reginald Gill in the Royal Engineers. 21 years old he has served in the middle East for the past on 12 months.
He was called up in 1940 from his employment at Manvers Main colliery. Both he and his brother, Thomas, who is 18, and joined the Coldstream Guards six weeks ago, are members of Wath Mechanics Institute and old boys of Park Road.
