29 Sandymount Rd, Wath on Dearne, has been killed in action. He was 22 years of age, and leaves a widow and one child.

At the outbreak of war he was a member of the fifth York and Lancaster (Territorial), and was immediately mobilised, but during training was transferred to the Royal Engineers, went to France in April 1915.

He returned to France only months ago, after 10 days leave. He has several times been commended for gallant conduct under fire.
