Captain Jack Jeavons of No 6 Court, High Street, West Melton, has been wounded by shrapnel while serving in France.  He has undergone two operations and is now in a South Wales hospital.

He is an old pupil of Brampton Ellis School and before entering the Forces was a policeman.
