Sergeant R.P. Jones
(East Yorks)

Sgt R.P.Jones (East Yorkshire), formerly of Moor Road, Wath on Dearne, was killed by shrapnel on July 1 whilst leading his men under heavy fire.

Prior to enlistment in September 1914, he was assistant master at a boys school in Hessle, near Hull.

He was a son of Mr R.P.Jones, headmaster of the Howden church schools.
