Note: On this day the 2nd & 3rd Coldstreams were to capture the Green Brown and Blue lines at Ginchy, an advance of 2500 yards in 2 hours between 6.20-8.20am.

It didn’t work out that way though.

The two battalions came under intense machine-gun fire from the Flers-Ginchy sunken road and suffered heavy casualties
