Major Arthtur Wilson Polden, third son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Polden, West street, Wath upon Dearne, appears in the list of Birthday Honours, and is awarded the Military. Cross among the King’s list of Birthday Honours.

Major Polden formerly served with the Yorkshire Yeomanry as a Sergeant.

He volunteered for active service at the outbreak of war, and. was attached to the R.F.A. He rose very rapidly, all his promotion being gained on the field.

Soon after receiving his Majority he was wounded and was invalided to England. He returned to France early this year.

Major Polden has been in the thick of the recent fighting and in one engagement had three horses shot under him.
