Private Rawling of West Melton, who was severely wounded in both thighs on Jan. 5 in France, is now in the British Red Cross Hospital, Netley.

He joined the Army in November, 1914, at the age of 18, and was sent to France in 1915.

Before enlistment he worked at Elsecar Main. He has spent three birthdays in France.
