Lance Corporal A Ridgewell

Mr and Mrs Ridgewell of Avenue Road, Wath, received news of the death of their eldest son in France.

Lance Corporal A Ridgewell was a signaller in the York and Lancaster, and was only 19 years of age. He enlisted two years ago, went to France in January of this year.

He received his wounds on May 3, after which he had his right leg amputated. He died on May 9 in hospital at Rouen.

Lance Corporal Ridgewell was an ardent member of the Wesleyan Church, and was employed at Manvers Main Colliery.
