Corporal Albert Smalley
(R.F.A.)

Son of Mr and Mrs Smalley, of 8 Fitzwilliam St, Wath, previously reported missing, is now reported killed in July 1, 1916.

He joined the army 1902, and was sent out to Africa. After five year stay there, the battalion was sent to India, but he returned home went on the reserve.

When the present war broke out, he was called immediately, and was at first employed as instructor in various parts of England and Ireland, going to France on November 4, 1914.

After he had endured the hardships of two severe winters, and had been fortunate in coming out on the many severe engagement which he passed through, his fate overtook him at the opening of the Offensive.
