Private Smeaton of 11, Meadow View, Wath upon Dearne, was killed in action on Nov. 22nd, after two years & eight months service with the Colours.

He was a married man, aged 39, with four children, and formerly lived in Mexboro’.

He was home on leave in September.

Before enlistment he was employed at Wath Main.
