Pte. Amy Smith (18), daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Smith, who lives with her sister, Miss Alice Smith, at 33a, Winterwell Road, West Melton, has been serving with the A.T.S., as a cook for about nine months. She was previously in domestic service.
Pte. Smith is an old pupil of Wath Park Road School, and before joining the Forces was a member of Wath Corps of the Salvation Army, and was one of the Salvation Army Songsters.
Her brother, Pte. John Smith (23), York and Lancs., who served in Norway, died while he was in the Forces in 1941. He joined the Army four years before the war.
