Mexborough WomanÂ
News has reached Mrs. J. M. Swindells, 42, Morton Road, Mexborough, that her son Gnr, Fred Swindells (29) has been killed in action while serving in Italy.
Gnr. Swindells had been in the Army for four years and took part in the North African campaign.
With him in the photograph shown is a Denaby man who was on the same gun as Gnr. Swindells, and Mrs. Swindells would be pleased to hear from either the man himself or his parents Gnr. Swindells is second from the right in the picture but Mrs. Swindells does not know which of the other men is his Denaby pal.
Before joining the Forces Gnr. Swindells worked at Manvers Main Colliery. He was an old boy of Dolcliffe Road School.
