Pte. Edward Turton (24). son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Turton, of 24, Riley Road, Wath, was with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders when they were inspected by Mr. Winston Churchill on his tour recently of Tripoli.

Pte. Turton wrote home that Mr. Churchill was complete with cigar and was “a grand old man.” In the Army three years and out in the Middle East since 1941,

Pte. Turton is well and happy. Before he joined the Army, he was a postman at Wath for about 12 months. He was born at Wath.
