Brampton Brothers Meet in Persia
This photograph was taken when two Brampton brothers met recently in Persia for the first time in five years.
They are Harry Gawthrope (right) who is working for the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company and Cyril Gawthrope who is on the staff of the R.A.M.C. in Iraq.
Cyril went abroad in 1942, being stationed for a while in Egypt and later being transferred to Iraq.
Harry is an old boy of John Street Council school, Wombwell, Barnsley Grammar School and later Sheffield University where he received his Associateship in Fuel Technology.
Before going abroad in 1939 he was employed as a chemist at Barrow Colliery, Barnsley. He wishes to be remembered to old workmates at Cortonwood and at Barrow and hopes to be home on leave early next year. Both boys are sons of Mrs. E. Gawthrope of 15, Knoll Beck Lane, Brampton, and the late Mr. Gawthrope.
