Lads from Wath

Fusilier Harry Holmes, son of Mrs. A. Porter and the late Mr. R. Holmes, of 9 Marshall Grove, of is serving on the Officers’ Mess Staff with his regiment. He is a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and took part In the evacuation from France.

Another brother, Gunner Alfred Porter (21). was called up at the outbreak of war and is serving with an anti- aircraft battery somewhere in England. Both have received gifts from Wath War Comforts Fund, the Mechanics’ Institute and Manvers Main Colliery.

A son-in-law of Mrs. Porter who is serving at a training camp is Sergt. Instructor Jack Wright. He is a native of Wath.
