Couple Send Two Sons

Mr. and Mrs. J. Johnson, of Riley Road, Wath-on-Dearne, have two sons now doing their bit for their country.

The elder, Jack (26) (picture, right), has been called up as a reservist, and is with the British Expeditionary Force overseas. Jack served in the Army for seven years, and came home in March of this year after five years on the North-West Frontier of India. He had just settled in civil life again at an aeroplane factory, when the call came for active service again. He is again receiving his copy of the “South Yorkshire Times” every week, for which is has been thankful for the last eight years of his roving life.

The younger son, Joseph (22) (picture , left), is in the R.A.F. “somewhere in England,” and joined up on January 2nd, 1939, for nine years’ service. He is at present on a course of instruction at a coastal town, and has met many of the well-known sporting personalities who have gone up to do their bit.

Joe also wants the “Times” sending off each week, so that he can follow the local sport and cycling news of the district.
