Wath Lads In India

L/Sgt. F. Osborne, of Wath, who is serving with the India Command writes:

“I am writing this letter on behalf of myself and six local lads, all of whom come from Wath. We are all serving in the same unit. We’ve been serving in India now for over three years and I don’t think we have missed receiving the good old “Times” in any week.  We all wish the local paper the best of luck.  After we have read it, it is placed in our quiet room for anybody else that likes to read it.  It has travelled all over India, and has been well into the jungles of Burma, when three of the Wath lads served there.

I tried to get all the lads together so I could send you a photo, but unfortunately only four of us could get.  The men in the photo are myself on left standing, on my right Tpr. Usher, sitting left, Tpr. T. Smith, and right (sitting) Tpr. C. Chapman.  Since having the photo taken, I have been promoted to L/Sgt.  The other men who are with us are: Tpr. Hargreaves, Tpr. Bramah and Tpr. Vaughan.  We are all in the best of health and all wanting to get back home.  I would like to be remembered to the customers at the Main Street Co-operative Branch, Mexborough, where I worked. “
