A blank weekend for Wath continued at Swinton on Monday, when they batted cautiously for 136 only to see the two Swinton opening batsmen knock off the runs in an hour. Wath batted first and Heaton and Senior opened the innings. They were dismissed for 20 and 17 respectively, and W Davis (picture) hit the highest individual score with 43. With the exception of Birkin’s 22 the rest of the Wath team were dismissed for less than ten Ellis took 3 for 33 and Eyre 2 for 17  for Swinton.

L Bedford and W Broadhead were the workers. They came in and flogged the Wath bowling to the boundaries, and in an hour had knocked off the Wath total. Bedford hit up 64, which included four sixes and six fours, and Broadhead 70 (including eleven fours). They knocked thirty runs in the first eleven minutes of the Swinton innings. Scores:
