The Shocking Accident Manver‘s Main Colliery.

Yesterday an inquest was held the Plant Hotel, Swinton, before Mr. Wightman, on the body of engine driver, named John Agus, who was employed at No. 1 Pit of the above colliery, and who received fatal injuries through scalding on Monday last.

It transpired that the deceased turned the hot water into what is known as “the receiver” too quickly, causing the pipe to expand and burst.

The deceased, who resided at Roman Terrace, leaves a wife and six children

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
