War Veterans Should Come Home First.

Colonel Mitchell had highly encouraging meeting at Wath last night.

Councillor W. Hallett presided, and the principal speakers were Mr. Walter Frece (London) and Miss B. M. Jenkinson, of Swinton.

Colonel Mitchell referred to Mr. Asquith’s statements that 70 million Germans now required looking after. He added that it was foolish to suggest that it behoved us to help them. Until all the sufferings the people of Britain had been paid for, and until all the crimes of Germans bad been, atoned for, and until it had been proved to the world that Germany had completely altered in heart and constitution, not a tittle of help should be offered her.

Replying to a question. Colonel Mitchell said that he thought priority of demobilisation should be according to length of service overseas.
