Bravo! Wath.
Wath 3, Notts. Forest 0
Following their success the previous day. Wath went further, on Saturday and., defeated Notts. Forest.
For the first half, Wath were hard, put to it, but they defended strenuously and the interval came without goals to either side. Wath had Wheatley in. again at left back after his five weeks enforced rest, through injury, and he, Bratley, and Whittaker were given a rough first half.
After the change of ends Wath were quickly aggressive and while the. Notts men were appealing for- offside F. MOORE went through and opened, Wath’s scoring.
Shortly afterwards E. MURDEN scrambled the ball in, and the, same player added Wath’s, third.
Notts. owed their downfall to playing the offside game. It paid in the first ‘half when they had the wind in their ‘favour,–but after-wards—well, it led to Wath’s goals.
Wath did not give of their best although they won. They had some, narrow escape in the first half. Whittaker was the best man in the field, and McKennon was a trier in’ the Notts. side. Williams too gave Green much trouble, and E. Murden was a clever opportunist.
