Wath’s Brilliant Patch.
Wath 6 Worksop Town 2
Though Wath Athletic had only ten men for sixty minutes of the game, they struck a brilliant patch in the last half-hour, and eventually defeated Worksop Town 6-2. Wheatley, Wath’s right-back, twisted his knee in the first half, besides receiving some severe flesh wounds, and had to leave the field.
At the time Wath were leading by two goals, scored by E. Murdin and Williams. Kitching reduced the lead, but a goal by L. Murdin put Wath ahead.
In the second half, Kitching scored again for Worksop. and E. Murdin (penalty), Williams, and L. Murdin scored.
No player on the field did better than Robinson, the visitors’ centre-half.
