Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 31 October 1927
Wath Athletic 1 Scarborough 1
The 1-1 result of the match between Wath Athletic and Scarborough was fair reflex of a hard fought game in which both sides showed to advantage.
Both goals were scored in the first half.
Swales gave Scarborough the lead eight minutes and Hargreaves equalised for Wath soon afterwards. Both sides strove hard for the winning goal, but Wath’s halves and Scarborough’s backs were too good for the respective opposition.
Murdin was tireless worker in Wath’s attack, and Baines was nearly as good for the visitors.
