Wath’s “Double” Over Wombwell
Wath Athletic 1 Wombwell Town 0
After a strenuous Wath Athletic managed to repeat the performance of the day before and get home with a 1-0 -victory over Wombwell Town. Play in the first half was very even, but when the teams changed round it looked as if the home side were going to assert their previous superiority.
After Hargreaves had scored, however, Wombwell were purred on to great efforts for the equaliser, and for the last twenty minutes had the better of the game.
They were held up mainly by a resolute defence and missed chances, so that, five minutes before the whistle went it was obvious they had shot their bolt. On the whole, Wath deserved to win.
