Boston Sustain their First Defeat at Wath.
Wath Athletic 3 Boston 2
Before another large “gate,” yesterday’s “feast” match with Boston proved one of the best games witnessed on the Wath Athletic ground.
Several changes took place in the constitution of the home team, and these were effective. Hance scored for the Athletic after 23 minutes, and Smith added a second before the interval.
After ten minutes in the second half Appleby beat Topham with a fine shot, but, following tricky work by Holt on the home right, Booth placed Wath further ahead. Dennis added a second for Boston. Afterwards the Athletic tested the visiting defence to heavy pressure, Holt sending in many shots which just missed the objective or were cleverly saved by a brilliant custodian in Blakey.
