The Athletic played new outside left in Murdin, late of Scarborough Penguins.
The first half was evenly contested. Norton, however, were the first to take the lead through Elliott. Williams drew level for the Athletic,. 20 minutes later.
There was further score up to the interval after which the Athletic pressed heavily and scored further goals through Ball, from a flag kick by Murdin. and header past Birkhead by Williams.
In the first half Norton showed good combination, but this was broken up in the second, mostly by the home defence, who played a strong game.
