Wath Golf Club’s War Contributions

From Wath it is recorded that quarter of the male membership of the club went to the war, while some of the lady members have also been away on war work.

Three members were killed, and several others were so knocked about that they cannot plav golf again, but the majority of the remainder have now been welcomed home.

The professional, Y. Roffe, has still to obtain his discharge from the army. The influx of new members is above the average.

The creation of a new green at the first hole, thus lengthening the hole by yards (450 in all), is the only change in the course due to war conditions.

A spring meeting and autumn meeting are the chief red-letter days in Wath’s calendar, and the Mitchell Cup and other prizes will be competed for.
