“Doctor”, a Wath Main pit pony who was working underground last Friday and was brought up on Saturday to do his annual work for the hospitals, pulling along the streets a corf into which coins are thrown.

Under the auspices of the Wath Hospital Sunday Committee, pit ponies have collected for the Montagu Hospital £125 in this way in the last few years.
