Wath Mainer Joins Up

Mr. John Galloway, who was until last week-end on the clerical staff at Wath Main Colliery, is the first from the office to join up in H.M. Forces.

Mr. Galloway entered to train as a Naval airman. He reported for duty on Monday. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Galloway, 40, Burman Road, Wath. Mr. Galloway is an overman at Wath Main Colliery. Mrs. Galloway is greatly interested in A.R.P. work.

John was educated at Brampton Ellis School and Mexborough Secondary School. At school he ran second in the schoolboys’ 440 yards’ championship, and second in Northern Counties junior 440 yards championship.

He has also assisted Wath Athletic Cricket Club, and he is a good footballer. John is the 59th man to join up from Wath Main Colliery.
