Barnsley 0 Old Wathonians 11
Barnsley forwards were on top during the first quarter, but Wath gradually took command thereafter did everything but score during a rather scrappy first half.
A Russell had a drop goal disallowed. A Horner crossed Barnsley’s line only to be brought back for a foward pass, and B Lidster just failed to gather a bouncing ball with the line at his mercy.
All this pressure was bound to bring Wath scores and in the second of it did. Apart from full back C Sidebottom, who had a sound game throughout, Wath’s stars were now the Bentley brothers.
First G Bentley kicked a penalty and then he made all the running for, and converted a try scored by younger brother R Bentley. To round off the scoring R Bentley, improving with every game, scored a grand individual try.
