Wath Tribunal – Exceptions to Conscription

In addition to dealing with 36 cases last week end, the Wath Tribunal dealt with a further 18 at the Wath Town Hall last night, 14 of which were reviewed by the military.

A racehorse trainer, aged 35 was not assented to; a sewage works foreman (35) was granted three months.

The case of a solicitor (30), on raising a technicality, was adjourned until 15 February for re-examination.

A joiner and Wheelwright (40) was granted three months condition exemption. Of the 40 cases under review by the military, to oil refiners (40 and 30), and a shunter (NI) were allowed to retain their certificates.

A captain of canal boats (25), a cooper (30), a horseman (38), and a motor drive (30) had their certificates withdrawn.

A lorry man (40) was allowed to retain his; while another lorry man (32) and a clerk (30), had theirs withdrawn.

A colliery clerk (seven), a colliery storekeeper (35), certificates were confirmed.

A licence victualler, (33) had his certificate withdrawn, and a C2 man (38) was allowed to retain his.
