Wath’s Eight Memorial Schemes.

Councillor William Hallatt presided at a public meeting held in the Pavilion, Wath, to consider as to the form of a proposed memorial for the district.

The following suggestions were made the nature of the memorial:

(1) A park for young and old ;

(2} memorial cross erected in the park to the memory of fallen, whose names should inscribed on tablets m the various places worship;

(3) A cot for the children at the Mexborough Hospital;

(4) A memorial hall and library;

(5) Small dwelling for people unable to work;

(6) A library and museum;

(7) A memorial hall for social and other gatherings with newsrooms and non-intoxicating refreshments

(8) An orphanage

The suggestions arc to be considered by the committee and dealt with at a further public meeting when the approximate amounts of subscription forthcoming are ascertained.
