Mr William Robson

An official of the Manvers Main colliery, who has been appointed Chairman of the Wath upon Dearne Urban Council.

Mr Robson was born in Scotland (County Ayr) and came to Darfield in 1858 with his father, Mr Thomas Robson, who came to take charge of the sinking of Darfield Main shafts.

Mr William Robson has now served the Manvers Main colliery company for a period of 43 years, for 20 years in the capacity of under manager.

He was elected a member of the Wath Urban Council 1910, as served in all the important committees.
