Wedding: Swanwick & Brown

The wedding took place at Wath-on-Dearne Parish Church on Saturday, the Rev. E. W. Bartholomew officiating, of Mr. Harry Swanwick, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Swanwick, 5, Knoll Beck Lane, Wombwell, and Miss Muriel Brown, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Brown, 98, Barnsley Road, Wath-on-Dearne. The service was choral, Mr. S. Hampshire being at the organ.

The bride, who was given away by her father. wore a charming gown of ivory seafoam satin and broderie anglais, with veil trimmed with orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of Harrisi lilies. She also wore pearls. Her bridesmaids, Miss May E. Brown (sister) and Miss May Swanwick (sister of the bridegroom), wore white floral georgette and white organdie with raglan sleeves: lemon organdie hats, and floral muffs. Two small attendants, Joyce Yearns and Kenneth Brown, carried posies of blue scabious and pink carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. James Gibbons as best man, and Mr. J. E. Sykes and Mr. D. Stevens as groomsmen.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Cross House by the bride’s parents. The mother of the bride wore brown silk and carried a bouquet of cream roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore blue figured silk and carried a bouquet of blush roses. Following the reception the bride and bridegroom left for North Wales, the bride travelling in a costume of Angora tweed, and stone marten fur, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were opal dress rings and skin handbags.
