A Charming Easter Bride

Among the many local Easter weddings, one of the most charming was that solemnised at Wath Trinity Methodist Church, of Miss Margaret Buncall, elder daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Horace Buncall, the Post Office, Wath, and Mr. Barrie George Keast, of St. Austell, Cornwall.

Mr. Buncall, previously postmaster at Concrete for 21 years, is also well known for his musical work, and the choir of Cortonwood Methodist Church, where he has been choirmaster for 15 years, were  present to sing at his daughter’s wedding.

The bride’s gown of French grosgrain and Chantilly lace was cut on Elizabethan lines. A long tulle veil embroidered with seed pearls, and was held in place by a cap of tulle, the bride carried a bouquet of golden roses and lilies of the valley. Two pretty bridesmaids were Miss Elizabeth Buncall and Miss Sheila Robson, sister and cousin of the bride respectively. They wore full skirted dresses of blue and white organza over blue taffeta, with matching head-dresses and gloves, and carried pink carnations.

Misses Veretta Cory and Sandra Cocks, small cousins of the bridegroom, had travelled from Cornwall to act as attendants. They wore dresses and bonnets of lemon voile over taffeta, and carried posies of primroses and violets.

The bride’s mother wore an ensemble of grey and grapefruit colour, and the bridegroom’s mother I of dusky pink with brown accessories.

The service was conducted by the Rev. S. Gordon, with Mr. Johnson at the organ.

Flying Officer Colin Barrett, B.Sc. (cousin of the bride) was best man and groomsmen were Mr. Stanley Robson and Mr. Malcolm Clark. After a reception in the Trinity Church schoolroom, Mr. and Mrs. Keast left for London, the bride travelling in an outfit of rose and grey. From London they go to live in. Camberley, Surrey.

Mr. Keast is a Sergeant Engineer in the Regular Army, and his bride, for the past three years, has been music mistress at Barnsley Central School.
