Miss Doris Cartwright, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Cartwright, 8, Oak Lea Avenue, West Melton, was married at Wath Parish Church on Saturday to Mr. Thomas Edward Parkinson, only son of Mr. and Mrs. B Parkinson, 42, Riversley Road. Gloucestsr, and formerly of Sandygate, Wath-on-Dearne.

The Vicar of Wath, the Rev. Bertram Russell, officiated.

The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of moire taffeta, cut on classical lines, with tulle veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried red carnations and lilies of the valley.

Her attendants, Miss Ruth Scothern and Miss Ivy Roberts, were in fuchsia taffeta with silver haloes and silver shoes, and carried muffs. The best man was Mr. Leslie Wallace, cousin of the bridegroom, and the groomsmen Mr G Cartwright brother of the bride, and Mr. F. Tingle.

The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were bracelets. Mr. Schofield Hampshire was at the organ. and the hymns “Lead us. Heavenly Father lead us” and “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden – were sung.

A reception was held at the Wesleyan Church schoolroom, West Melton.

The bride’s mother wore a navy floral dress and navy coat with matching hat, and had a spray of pink carnations. The bridegroom’s mother wore a n—-r brown two-piece, with brown accessories, and also had a spray of pink carnations.
