A former Buxton journalist now residing in Leeds, Mr. C. Ronald Yeomans, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Yeomans, of 12, Park Lane, Sheffield, was married at All Saints Church, Wath, on Saturday to Miss Frances Muriel Coakes, C.S.M.M.G., M.E.LE.T., only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. W. Coakes, of Sandy Bank, Sandygate, Wath.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a full length dress of blue taffeta, with a hat to match and silver shoes. Her shower bouquet was of sweet peas. Miss Margaret Beaumont, of Barnsley, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid and was attired in a dress of rose pink cloque.
The best man was Mr. W. C. F. Shepherd, of Buxton, and Mr. Roy Howe, of Buxton, and Aircraftman Jim Coakes, brother of the bride, were the groomsmen.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. V. Evans, Vicar of Wath. A reception was held at the Church House, Wath, and among the guests were a number of the bridegroom’s Buxton friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald will reside in Roundhay Leeds, where Mr. Yeomans is a member of the Yorkshire Evening News editorial staff. Until recently Mr. Yeomans was in charge of his own press agency in Buxton, where he was on the committee of Buxton Cricket Club and captain of the Buxton Wednesday team. He was also a playing member of the Buxton hockey club and was an enthusiastic squash rackets player. He toured his own squash team and was for three years the Derbyshire county champion.
Before the war he was a regular broadcaster on a variety of subjects. The bride completed her raining as a masseuse last December at the Devonshire Royal Hospital, Buxton, where she was successful in gaining her massage, electrical and light certificates. Until recently she was masseuse at the Salford Royal Hospital, Manchester. She is a former pupil of Wath Grammar School.
